BERGEN — An Ontario County man already facing charges for similar crimes in two other counties was charged for a burglary and car theft in Bergen in July, state police said.
Sean M. Harloff, 31, of Farmington was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and second-degree burglary.
Harloff has been in custody since he led police on a high-speed chase in Monroe County on July 8.
That happened two days after the theft in Bergen.
Harloff, who was released from state prison in 2019 after serving a two-to-four year term for burglaries in Ontario County, is believed to have gone on crime spree during the summer in Ontario, Monroe and Genesee counties.
He was arrested in Ontario after he allegedly burglarized a house in Canandaigua and stole a car parked in the garage on July 6, also the same day as the Bergen theft.
On July 8, police in Irondequoit attempted to stop him while he was driving a stolen car. Harloff refused to stop and led police from multipe agencies on a chase through Irondequiot and into Rochester before he finally stopped on Bay Road in Webster, media reports from July said.
He was also high on drugs at the time, police said.
Harloff is believed to have committed numerous other crimes, where he would burglarize houses, steal cars and then abandoned them at other locations.
